Breathe life into stunning bouquets that seem to wilt and shrivel within the course of a few days. To help combat this occurrence, Williams and McDaniel Property Management has researched some tips that will keep fresh flower bouquets alive longer and looking better than ever before. It all comes down to nourishing the flowers and keeping any bacteria in the water under control.
Aspirin
Keep roses and other cut flowers fresh longer with aspirin. Crush an aspirin up in water and then add flowers. Be sure to change the vase’s water every few days.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons of sugar with vase water before adding the flowers. To extend the life of flowers, change the water and add in vinegar and sugar every couple of days.
Soda
Instead of dumping those last bits of soda down the drain, use them to keep your flowers looking fresh. Pour ¼ cup of soda into a vase full of water and cut flowers. The soda’s sugar will make the blossoms last longer. Keep your flower’s fresh and the vase water clear by using Sprite or 7-Up.
Bleach
Place freshly cut flowers in vase water mixed with ¼ teaspoon bleach per 1 litre of water. Another variation calls for 3 drops of bleach and 1 teaspoon sugar per 1 litre of water.
Coins
Add a copper penny and a cube of sugar to vase water and watch flowers thrive. Copper in the pennies is said to act like an acidifier, which prevents the growth of bacteria.
Keep your flowers happy by trying Williams and McDaniel Property Management’s tips to help them stay fresh and healthy for longer.
